What is it

If you have supporters who have given you permission to call them, then you can make phone calls with specific appeals for funding.

Good reasons to try telephone fundraising

  • As part of a strategy of building relationships with your supporters to increase their donations
  • If you can set up the process of taking payments online
  • If you think your target supporters will prefer it to methods or it will get through to them better

Example

Xtra Arts Centre has a lot of supporters and ticket buyers registered with permission to use their phone numbers and emails for marketing. Many of them already add small donations when they buy tickets online. Xtra Arts knows that some of their potential major donors prefer to buy tickets by phone so predict that they will prefer to make donations by phone as well. They target people living in key postcodes to make a call list. Then they make an appeal to support the centre during the coronavirus crisis.
